Vanilla Mango Green Smoothie

I drink green smoothies almost daily, but my boys haven’t always been that crazy about them. As a result, I’m forever testing new smoothie recipes. This green smoothie is by far one of their favorites. It’s creamy and delicious, and is packed with vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and protein.
However, even though this green smoothie is now the one they request most often, that wasn’t always the case. The first time I made it they didn’t like it. At all. Which is exactly why you see two glasses in the photo above.
As my clients know, I am a huge believer in the two bite rule. The rule is simple: everyone is expected to try two bites of everything, every time it is served. It’s the best way to encourage kids to be more adventurous, and the best way to train taste buds to like new flavors and textures.
I apply this rule to green smoothies as well. Two sips, every time. Regardless of the ingredients. Regardless of what color it might be. Two sips, every time.
I simply pour a tall glass for myself and a small glass for the boys. They each take their two sips, and then we pour more into their glass if they like it. The second time I made this smoothie, they both liked it enough to ask for seconds.
As you can see in the photo below, I’m now pouring tall glasses for everyone.
The two bite rule works. Do you know what else works? Letting your kids give the smoothie a really fun, cool name. Try it, and let me know how it goes by sharing in the comments below!
