Blueberry and Beet Greens Smoothie
I know, the combination sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But don’t you just love the color?!?
I love this recipe for it’s simplicity. I was looking for a way to use the beet greens from my CSA basket, and this is the perfect solution.
This smoothie has such a clean taste, and I love it because it is packed with antioxidants and provides a whole host of nutritional benefits. It will boost your immune system and provide protection against infection and cancer. In addition, the banana will help to replace electrolytes lost during exercise, the hemp seed is rich in protein and healthy fats (Omega 3s), and the maca will help your body recover from physical stress.
You really must give it a try!
Blueberry and Beet Greens Smoothie
Serves 2
Ingredients:
1 cup filtered water
3-4 handfuls of beet greens
1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 banana
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
2 teaspoons maca (optional)
Directions:
Add ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
*Use organic ingredients if possible
